Audi has pondered the possibility of turning a 21st-century Quattro Coupe into a production reality.
Only last month did we drool over the Audi Quattro Concept with the turbocharged five-cylinder engine, just like the original. And we dreamed of what it might be like to drive such a mythical beast. Well, a month is a long time in the car world and now Audi has pondered the possibility of turning a 21st-century Quattro Coupe into a production reality. "We know how to engineer it already," said an Audi spokesman. The plan at the moment is to make a limited run of somewhere between 200 and 500 units, costing around $140,000 each. Because of extensive aluminum and carbon fiber use in construction, the new 408-hp Quattro weighs 2,866 pounds, just about the same as the old 444-hp Group B rally version. Sigh.
