The iQ is new to the U.S. market. The car has been sold as a Toyota in Europe since its 2008 launch. In the U.S., the iQ’s place at the bottom of the Scion lineup means it has features like turn signal indicators integrated into the side mirrors and a six-speaker sound system that can be fitted with multiple head units.
Less than 10 feet long from bumper to bumper. The Scion iQ, which is pretty much just a renaming of the Toyota iQ available in Europe. Aimed squarely at the Smart Four two, the iQ offers a shockingly spacious interior, with enough room for a 6 foot 3 inch tall driver to be quite comfortable. The rear seats don't offer much in the way of actual seating, but it does allow Toyota to call the iQ the smallest four passenger car in the world. Toyota pulled out all the stop in order to make the iQ work and still be able to pass crash testing, which it is expected to receive 5 star rating for. They manage to squeeze in 9 airbags, an air conditioning system 20% smaller than that in the Yaris and a new differential which allows 4 more inches of cabin space, again compare with Toyota's own compact car, the Yaris.
While European versions will have several engine choices, including a "wish it were here" diesel option. Stateside, however, we will have to settle for the 1.3 liter four cylinder.Source: http://www.automobilemag.com/capsule_review/scion/iq/2011/capsule_review_2011_scion_iq/index.html

Scion iQ is really so smart. It will get great gas millage we would guess easily in the 40-ish mpg range. Scion’s iQ concept is the intelligent answer to this need for highly emotional and efficient urban transportation. I just like this car.
