Alpina peek.
Yes, the Alpina B7 (based on the BMW 7 Series) is fast, fabulous, and available in the United States. But, to paraphrase the Beach Boys, wouldn't it be nice if we had the 5 Series version-the Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo-over here too? There are eight reasons why, arranged in a classic V. Under the hood is a twin-turbo V8 that makes 507 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Zero to 60 mph whizzes by in just 4.7 seconds and top speed is 191 mph. Which is pretty darn good for a 5 Series. It also has an eight-speed automatic transmission and an Alpina-tweaked adjustable suspension. Surely this would keep us amply amused while we're waiting for the new M5 to come along.
